I didn't see this one coming, but the Dallas Stars have assigned D Dan Jancevski to the Bulldogs to start the AHL season.
Dan was, of course, a big part of the 2006-07 Calder Cup Championship winning team and signed as a free agent to Tampa Bay after the completion of that season. He split most of last season between the Norfolk Admirals and the Iowa Stars, but he's Hamilton bound once again. I am glad to see he's coming back, as he will really bolster the defence.
What do you think of his return?

BULLDOGS 2008-09: First cuts made today by Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens made their first cuts this morning and have assigned the following players to Hamilton for the beginning of this year's season. They are as follows:
Goaltenders (2)
Cédrick Desjardins
Loic Lacasse
Defensemen (3)
Pavel Valentenko
Shawn Belle
Chad Anderson
Forwards (11)
Brock Trotter
Ryan White
James T. Wyman
Mike Glumac
Olivier Latendresse
Yanick Lehoux
Ryan Flinn
Mathieu Aubin
Ryan Russell
David Desharnais
Thomas Beauregard
Not too many familiar names yet, with the exception of goaltender Desjardins, D Valetenko and forwards Trotter and Aubin.
Olivier Latendresse, some may remember, was traded to Montreal by Phoenix for Cory Urquhart at the end of last season on April 7th. Both players needed a change, hopefully this will work out for them.
For those of you wondering where Ajay Baines name is, he signed a tryout with Anaheim, who have already sent him down to Iowa to start the season. It was no real surprise that he left, as it had been mentioned in the media the Bulldogs were looking at hi not coming back.
Here is a list of other players not coming back and where they'll be this year:
Not Returning
4 Marvin Degon - EHC Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey-Liga
7 Eric Manlow
15 Daniel Corso - Finland for Kärpät Oulu of the SM-liiga
17 Kyle Chipchura - Montreal

Coming back to life for 2008-09 season
It's been a long, long time since I used this blog, but I've decided to try and keep as up to date with the Bulldogs season as possible this year. So, starting in Sept I am aiming to have at least weekly updates, possibly more depending on time.
It's going to be a very interesting year for the Hamilton Bulldogs, that is for sure. A lot of last year's team is gone and we're going to see a lot of new faces in Copps Coliseum this year. We're still about 50 days away from the first home game (Oct 17th for those counting), so the lineup isn't anywhere close to being confirmed. Having said that, I'm going to try to take a look at some of the new additions and departures before we reach that day.
